LOCAL LAND SPEED CHALLENGER TO HOST IAME NIGHT

Teviot Downs based Land Speed Racing team of Slaughter Motorsport, is set to host a technical night for the QLD branch of the Institute of Automotive Mechanical Engineers, this Wednesday, Feb 17th.
The Slaughter Motorsport Land Speed Streamliner is nearing completion and will see the culmination of a life long dream of owner/driver Trevor Slaughter to set a land speed record.
Slaughters love affair with Land Speed Racing started back when he met Sir Donald Campbell at the age of 10 and sat behind the wheel of the famous Bluebird.
“Our 1st goal is to set the world wheel driven record for our class, by running 350mph/563kmh over a measured mile. Once achieved, we’ll focus on Sir Donald Campbell’s Australian wheel driven record, of 403mph/648kmh that was set in the famous Bluebird back in 1964 which still stands today explains Slaughter.”
The Streamliner is 8.5m long, weighs over 3,800lbs/1723kg, is powered by a fuel injected, turbocharged 3Ltr Toyota 2JZ engine that produces in excess of 1,800hp, with the power driven to the wheels by an air shifted Lenco transmission.
The lnstitute of Automotive Mechanical Engineers is an Association for people and organisations within the Automotive industry. The not for profit industry based association has over 22,000 members nationally. Their aims are to further the interests of their Members at all levels through knowledge, awareness and the sharing of expertise.
