Brisbane Jamboree 2025 was massive! Over 250 entries hit the track, with strong competition in Pro Turbo, Factory Extreme, Pro Mod, and Pro Compact. The Valenhold Racing Slaughter Motorsport team was pumped for the challenge, especially after recent testing showed the Pro Turbo Supra’s true potential following some teething issues, mechanical improvements, and tuning.

Saturday qualifying was met with anticipation and excitement. However, two minor issues affected two of the team’s three qualifying runs, ending the day with a solid but slower-than-expected 7.10@206mph—certainly not the pace the team had hoped for after the promising testing sessions just two weeks prior.
The team worked tirelessly Saturday night, servicing the Supra in preparation for Sunday’s racing. Sunday dawned in early morning fog, with the crisp air hinting at the horsepower potential of the day.
Round One: The team lined up against Anthony Maatouk in VLGod. A short burnout by Ben had the Supra staged and ready to unleash. However, as RPMs climbed, the car dragged through the beams, triggering a red light—Round One loss.

Round Two: Next, Ben faced good friend Jason Payne in his blue R32 Nissan Skyline—always a fast and consistent competitor. Both cars executed their burnouts to the cheers of eager fans, staged perfectly, and then launched with flames licking the exhaust. The Christmas tree flashed yellow, and Ben left first, taking the holeshot. The Supra streaked down the track, lighting up the timing boards with a 6.70@207mph—marking a new personal best and the team’s first-ever win in the Supra. The crew erupted in celebration.

Ben reflected: “I feel an inch taller. We’ve struggled with setup and parts failures, but now we’ve got it dialled—it’s a rocket ship. That mountain has been climbed.”
Round Three: The Supra faced Domenic Maiolo in his Nissan R32. Both cars burned out strongly and crept toward the staging beams. As the engines roared and RPMs hit fever pitch, Ben staged on full boost with flames shooting from the Supra. Domenic triggered a red light, and Ben blasted down the track, front wheels briefly in the air, crossing the finish line with another new personal best: 6.68@211mph.

The team ended the day two-for-three, a performance to be proud of, with the Supra executing perfectly on all three runs. Brisbane Jamboree was an unforgettable event, exemplifying the joy of building, tuning, and racing your own car.
David Burgemeister, the team’s longest-serving member, said: “It’s pretty bloody special. Something we’re all proud of—simply awesome.”
Ben added: “Without the efforts of our team—my crew, our sponsors—it all plays a part. It works like an ecosystem, with each part equally important. I cannot thank everyone enough, and we’re just getting started.”
Looking ahead, the team plans to assess the Supra’s maintenance and feasibility for Adelaide Jamboree while balancing sponsorship commitments and trade shows.
Ben also thanked the event organisers: “Colin, Kelly, you’ve brought an amazing event to life again—well done. And to the Willowbank Raceway ‘Green Army,’ thank you for the weekend. It was great to have a laugh and enjoy our sport; your efforts don’t go unnoticed.”

Our sponsors play a massive role in our race program—we simply could not compete without them. A huge thank you to Valenhold, Valc Mining Solutions, Prime Speedworks, Ayreton Industries, Aletek, WRL Shipping, Haltech, and Visual Apparel for your support.
To my crew, what can I say? You are all top-class people, and I have the privilege of sharing this journey with you. We set lofty goals, share plenty of laughs, never give up, and above all, we are bloody good mates. I appreciate every one of you for what you do—this is a true brotherhood.
