The Gulf Western Oil Winternationals at Willowbank Raceway delivered everything drag racing is known for big highs, brutal lows, long nights, and a reminder that nothing in this sport comes easy.

For Slaughter Motorsport, the weekend started with a massive milestone. Competing in Factory Extreme, we managed to put the Supra on top of the qualifying sheet with a new personal best of 6.41 seconds at 219 mph.
To top qualify in Factory Extreme is a huge achievement for our team. This class is packed with serious cars, serious racers, and some of the toughest competition in the country. To come out swinging and land at the top was a massive moment for everyone involved in Slaughter Motorsport.
But as quickly as drag racing gives, it can take away.

Across the weekend, we were hit with some monumental issues, including destroying a tailshaft, damaging parachutes, and fighting a run of mechanical problems that tested the team from every angle. The crew went above and beyond, pulling together under pressure to get the car repaired and back into the fight.
Getting the car turned around was no small effort. It took long hours, quick thinking, and a massive push from everyone in the pit. The boys refused to quit, and thanks to their effort, we were able to get back out there and keep the weekend alive.
Unfortunately, after all the work to repair the damage and make it through to the second round of racing, we were ultimately let down by an issue we simply couldn’t fix in time. We threw everything we had at it, but this time it just wasn’t meant to be.
That’s racing.
As disappointing as the finish was, there is still a lot to be proud of. A 6.41 @ 219 mph, top qualifier in Factory Extreme, and a team that proved once again it has the determination, skill, and heart to compete at this level.
A huge thank you goes to every race fan who came by the pits, said hello, cheered us on, and showed support across the weekend. The energy from the fans at Willowbank is always something special, and we appreciate every bit of it.

To our crew, you were relentless. The amount of work that went into keeping this car alive across the weekend was massive, and none of this happens without you. You got it done under pressure, not once, but multiple times.
To our sponsors and supporters, thank you for continuing to back this team and fuel the passion. We simply could not do this without you. Your support allows us to chase moments like this, push harder, and represent you on one of the biggest stages in Australian drag racing.
The Winternationals didn’t end the way we wanted, but we leave Willowbank with a new PB, a top qualifier result, and a fire in the belly to come back stronger.
We’ll regroup, repair, and keep pushing.
This story is far from over.
See you at Brisbane Jamboree the first week of August!
